Tempted to Dream — Part 1 (A Song)

Wouldn’t you know it?
Just like a desert
When it rains
You brought me back to life
Allowed me to hope that
We’d have forever
It’s strange
That you disappeared one last time

Just for a moment
Just for an instant
I’m tempted to dream
Of you

You’re here for an hour
Or maybe a lifetime
It feels
Like I’m no longer lonely
That is your power
Over my heart and
My mind
If only time could go slowly

Just for a moment
Just for an instant
I’m tempted to dream
Of you

So why do I wake up
And why can’t we make up
For time
That was lost when you left me
It feels like a breakup
Each time that I think that
You’re mine
Sometimes the pain is so heavy

And yet
Just for a moment
Just for an instant
It’s true
I’m tempted to dream
Of you

Just for a moment
Just for forever
I do
I let myself dream
Because that’s all I can see
I’m tempted to dream
Of you

Commentary:

This one, like many of my songs, is from real experience. It was inspired by the woman who has been my wife for 5 years now. There was a time when it seemed everything was trying to keep us apart, and…it was a pretty angst-ridden time for me. With the realities of married life, sometimes it’s good to remember a time like that, when everything I wanted in life was her. I don’t know that that ever changed, but sometimes other things get in the way. It’s helpful to refocus and remember why I made the vow in the first place. Well, enough of that. Hope you liked it. The song has four parts, so I’ll be posting the other parts at another time.
