Black Friday Part II

After humiliation
And much recrimination
Now at last, you return
After you left this place and
Went to find a replacement
Now you seek the unearned
To be trusted beside me
When for years you were lying
And I buried it all
Not from lack of the trying
Beyond even the crying
Still I’m there when you call

So your warranty’s good, then
I exchanged the uncertain
For the promise of pain
Let it be understood that
Just because we are good that
Doesn’t mean it’s the same
This return of you
Is Black Friday Part II

But the bed is still empty
We are vague here and friendly
And you’re still holding back
Scared that I’m an enemy
I can sense the enmity
That there’s something we lack
Why did he so forsake you?
Why did he even take you?
There is something I missed
Why did he then betray you?
Why are you now afraid to
Seal us back with a kiss?

So your warranty’s good, then
I exchanged the uncertain
For the promise of pain
Let it be understood that
Just because we are good that
Doesn’t mean it’s the same
This return of you
Is Black Friday Part II

Not alone yet I’m lonely
You still aren’t there to hold me
I was not quite your only
Based on all that you told me
And you simply disowned me
Witness here the dethroning
Of a coward and king
You say that you are ugly
You think that you are nothing
But then who am I loving
With an oath made of stuffing
Built of lies and of bluffing
And of memories lovely
And of disappearing
This is what I see
When you’re looking at me

So your warranty’s good, then
I exchanged the uncertain
For the promise of pain
Let it be understood that
Just because we are good that
Doesn’t mean it’s the same
This return of you
Is Black Friday Part II
